\u00a0Bojanala Platinum District Tourism Master Plan, North West Province, South Africa.<\/h3>\n
Contour were the project leaders and principle consultants.\u00a0 The development of a Tourism Master Plan was commissioned by the Bojanala Platinum District Municipality (BPDM) in order to assist the Municipality in identifying priority focus areas, aimed at developing the tourism industry in the District and yielding sustainable tourism developments and benefits of high quality for the area and its people.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n A concept for development of the Sogimvelo Game Reserve – Badplaas area as a conservation and tourism development node.\u00a0 Contour was appointed as lead consultant and facilitator to develop the Concept Plan. The broad vision is for the Great Nkomati River Valley (GNRV) to becom a substantial nature-based tourism and conservation destination and a primary catalyst for the stimulation of socio-economic benefits to a largely impoverished rural community, through pro-active facilitation by the Mpumalanga Tourism and Parks Agency in collaboration with the private sector, communities and the state.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n As part of a Multi-Sector Investment Opportunity Analysis for the World Bank, Willie Boonzaaier from Contour Project Managers was appointed as Tourism and Wildlife Conservation Expert by BRL Ing\u00e9nierie.\u00a0 The project was funded by the Sweden government.\u00a0 The assignment was; to prepare a summary description and carry out a rapid SWOT analysis on the tourism and wildlife conservation beneficial uses in the Zambezi river basin; to advise the Economist and Team leader on the elaboration of development scenarios; to provide the Economist with all needed data, including economic aspects, concerning tourism and wildlife conservation; to contribute to the analysis of the scenarios with the use of indicators concerning tourisms and wildlife conservation; and to assist the team in analysing the existence and opportunities of Public Private Partnerships (PPP) in the tourism sector and in all the project sectors.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n Royal Bafokeng Tourism Route and Anchor Projects \u2013<\/strong> tourism opportunity analysis and Tourism Route Business Plan.\u00a0 Participated in a team of specialists as the spatial tourism specialists, in identifying key tourism opportunities, developing concepts and business plans for anchor projects and developing a spatial tourism plan with tourism routes.<\/p>\n Praia da Rocha Tourism Development Plan at Inhambane,<\/strong> as a Priority Coastal Development Zone in Mozambique.\u00a0 Contour was part of a team that assisted the Client in the areas of formulation of a tourism development plan for Praia da Rocha that maximises the economic potential of the area and can be used as a demonstration of sustainable coastal to<\/p>\n urism in the Province of Inhambane.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n The project entailed the development of a 10-year Strategic Plan that assessed the extensive planted forest of Abu Dhabi, in terms of improved management and their potential for wildlife-based tourism.<\/p>\n The assignment culminated into an initial phase of rapid assessment and preliminary proposals, followed by a detailed 10-year plan and the development of tourism concepts and products.<\/p>\n Lebatlane Game Reserve<\/strong> – Strategic assessment, Strategic Management Plan and Development and Management Plan for 33,000 ha community-based project in North West Province.\u00a0 The assignment included the assessment of the tourism potential and drafting of a concept development plan and detailed feasibility study.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n Rustenburg Spatial Tourism Plan<\/strong> for the Rustenburg Local Municipality, North West Province, South Africa.\u00a0 The development of a Tourism Spatial Plan commenced in order to facilitate tourism development and growth in a pro-active manner.\u00a0 The project provided guidelines for the Local Authority with regard to tourism development and related products as well as priorities for the various initiatives.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n Cubo Community Nature Conservancy – Strategic Development and Management Plan and Business Plan<\/strong> for 54,000 ha conservancy in Mozambique for African Wildlife Foundation.\u00a0 The project covered the assessment of the area\u2019s potential as a green fields nature-based tourism project that could benefit the land owning community.\u00a0 A development plan, feasibility study and business plan was completed.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n Limpopo National Park Proposed Tourism Development Projects<\/strong> in the community buffer zone of Mozambique for BRL Ing\u00e9nierie and Mozambican Government.\u00a0 The project entailed the assessment of regional and local tourism potentials and proposing viable tourism projects that could promote the tourism industry, contribute towards the establishment of the Limpopo National Park in Mozambique and benefit local communities.<\/p>\n A study was done of the Blyde River Canyon, its conservation value, the current management and the policies relevant to development and commercial operations within the Blyde Canyon Nature Reserve (BCNR).\u00a0 To determine the potential for viable tourism opportunities, the regional tourism perspective, the status and trends of day visitor- and overnight facilities and tourism support services were analysed.\u00a0 The potential for new tourism developments and operations within BCNR was then analysed before surveying their potential through a tour operator- and demand survey.
